FAQ

Q: Why Outsource?
A: Concentrate your capital on core areas such as new product development and technology. Improve capital utilization by avoiding investments in non-core equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. Reduce your unit cost and improve margins.

Q: Who is Prosna?
A: Prosna is a US company that buys and sells OEM machined components all over the world. We have parts made in the US for export, parts made in other countries for import, and even have parts made in one country and shipped directly to a third country. The staff has been doing this since the late 1950s, Prosna has been in business for 38 years.

Q: How long does it take to get a quotation?
A: The response time will depend on the part. The average quote time is 2 to 4 days, but can take a few days longer for complex parts, especially if there is a lot to be translated on the drawings.

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity?
A: No, we do not have minimum quantity requirements, but please keep in mind that very small orders (a few hundred dollars) will offer little savings after the cost of shipping and handling. On the other hand, we can and will consolidate your parts with other items being shipped to reduce transportation and custom clearance costs.

Q: What items are good candidates for off shore sourcing?
A: Almost any casting, forging, metal stamping or machined part would benefit from off shore sourcing. The primary savings in off shore sourcing is the labor. The more labor intensive the part, the more potential the savings. This also apply’s to the tooling needed to make parts. Saving of 20% to 50% are normal.

Q: How do your determine where parts will be made?

A: Most are, but some are not. We will use only ISO certified suppliers when instructed.

Q: What are your lead times?
A: Normally samples in 20-45 days and production in 60-90 days after sample approval. The complexity of the part, or the tooling used to make the part, will affect the lead time.

Q: Will there be any additional cost to the price quoted, like duty and freight?
A: No, we will quote to you a firm price FOB – Saint John, Indiana for less than full container lots. Full containers can be drop shipped to your nearest rail yard.

Q: What are your payment terms?
A: Tooling – 50% deposit with order, balance on acceptance of samples. Production parts are Net 20 Days with approved credit.

Q: What about quality standards and inspections?
A: Each foundry and shop has its own quality control department which can meet most US inspection and quality standards, and if needed we can use a 3rd party inspection service. Each production lot will come standard with a dimensional inspection report and material certification. Additional documentation, if requested, can be provided. Prosna has long term relationships with these suppliers, and we will guarantee the parts to meet or exceed your drawing standards.
